Last week, the lieutenant governor of Alberta approved the appointment of the following 2 new people to the Automobile Insurance Rate Board.

  • Joshua Gogo
  • Jamie Hotte

Joshua Gogo is a managing consultant and the CEO of LDCS Consulting in Fort McMurray. He’s also a VP for Afcote, a global investment and finance consulting firm; visiting professor with Emerald Energy Institute for Petroleum & Energy Economics; and CEO with XPolar Energy and Advanced Systems. In 2015, he donated $500 to Don Scott’s PC election campaign in Fort McMurray. He donated $500 to the UCP last year, as well as $500 during the last election campaign.

Jamie Hotte is the CEO of CPA Insurance Plans West in Edmonton, a role he began just this past April. CPA Insurance provides a wide variety of insurance products, including auto insurance. Prior to that, he was the chief operating officer with the Albert Urban Municipalities Association. I could find no record of political donations in Hotte’s name or otherwise connected to him. Hotte’s appointment brings to 4 the number of board members from the insurance industry.

Both appointees have each been appointed to a 3-year term.

All board members are eligible for the following remuneration:

  • $150 for each period up to and including 4 hours
  • $265 for each period 4–8 hours
  • $390 for each period over 8 hours

They’re also entitled to paid travelling and living expenses.
