Last week, the Alberta lieutenant governor approved a request by Travis Toews, the finance minister, to appoint the following people each to a 3-year term on the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission.
- W. Kent Breedlove
- Jack Fujino
- Robert Sartor
W. Kent Breedlove is vice-president at Stillwater Capital Advisors, a post he acquired just last month. Prior to that, he was general counsel and vice-president at Enerflex Ltd.
Jack Fujino used to be an engineer with Stantec.
Robert Sartor is president and CEO of YYC Calgary International Airport. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of Big Rock Brewery. He was also the CEO at The Forzani Group, until it was acquired by Canadian Tire. In 2016, he donated $725 to the NDP. While he was at Big Rock, the company donated to the PC party several times, including $4,750 in 2012, $3,750 in 2013, and $3,750 in 2015.
No remuneration details were released with the order in council, but when the last batch of commission members was approved in November, they were connected to Schedule 1, Part A of the Committee Remuneration Order, which includes $150 for each period 4 hours and under, $265 between 4 and 8 hours, and $390 over 8 hours conducting commission business. Commission members, according to the CRO, are entitled to paid travelling and living expenses as well.
